The Factorial Structure of Some Physiological Measurements as an Indicator for Selecting Judo Players in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Abstract: Objectives: The general objective of this study is to use the factorial structure of some physiological measurements as an indicator for selecting judo players. Methodology: The study employed a descriptive survey method, with a research sample size of 30 young judo players representing clubs (Youth, Ahad, and Ansar). To achieve the study's objectives, the researcher relied on some functional measurements, including heart rate, vital capacity, blood pressure (systolic and diastolic), cardiac output, stroke volume, VO2max, neuromuscular compatibility, emotional stability, and reaction time. The measurements were taken in September 2021 at the Exercise Physiology Laboratory in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences and on outdoor courts at Taibah University.

Results: The study's results indicated the emergence of three factors in the physiological measurements specific to judo players, which can be used as indicators for selecting judo players, namely heart rate, cardiac output, and systolic blood pressure. Recommendations: The study recommended the importance of focusing on the physiological determinants specific to judo players that were extracted from the study's results. These factors can serve as a scientific basis for selecting judo players in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and in organizing and directing training programs for judo players.

Long non-coding RNA-protein interaction: the preliminary step to track their biological functions

Abstract: As RNA is not only an intermediate for the flow of genetic informations between DNA and protein. The transcription of the entire genomes generates a myriad non-protein coding RNA in addition to protein coding genes. Among these transcripts, lncRNA which is the least well understood and they can not be considered as merely transcriptional noises. Here, we review the emerging role of lncRNA interactions with binding proteins (RBP) to perform multidirectional functions in transcription and epigenetic gene regulations, control of mRNA splicing, translation and post translational modifications. In addition lncRNAs may acts as cellular thermostat that helps in preserving of cellular homeostasis.

Abstract: The women carry large/heavy handbags, which cause bad posture, musculoskeletal pain and limitation of movements. This cross-sectional study investigated the biomechanical complications associated with females using handbags in Enugu metropolis. 150 subjects (mean age, BMI: 26.41±7.75years, 35.00±23.32kg/m2) had their shoulder level, posture and basal gait parameters assessed respectively. 97(64.5%) carry handbags on right shoulder, and 53(35.5%) on the left shoulder. Post-handbag carriage test shows a significance difference (p<0.05) in shoulder height discrepancy as measured (inter test), greatest discrepancies occurred between heavy weight and normal handbag weight categories subjects (mean difference = 3.32000).There was a significant increase (p<0.05) on the shoulder height discrepancy as the weight of the bag increases and at intra and inter tests. Ambulation of subjects at stride frequency (velotype 3) recorded significance difference (p<0.05) in stride length (pre-test and the post-test groups); and non-significance difference (p>0.05) in stride frequency, stride velocity and stride duration of normal stride (velotype 1). Healthy subjects group without any biomechanical complications (pre-test and post-tests) during walking with and without handbags reported non-significant difference (p>0.307, r=0.352 and 0.380respectively). Conclusively, carrying handbags with weights showed (i) shoulder load carriage decreases transverse pelvic and thoracic rotation (ii) a mean relative phase between pelvic and thoracic rotations and (iii) an increase on hip excursion that limits normal gait pattern of most females with heavy handbags, suggesting that females should be wearing lighter handbags.

Behaviors and Attitudes towards Road Safety Measures among Adolescent and Young Adult Male Drivers

Abstract: Background: Considering the high population density and the large number of vehicles per capita in Jazan region in the southwestern corner of Saudi Arabia. Objective: to assess the degree of awareness about road safety among male students at Jazan University. Methods: In this cross‑sectional study, data were collected from a random sample of 1531 participants (response rate was 81.91%) using a semi-structured, interviewer‑administered questionnaire. Results: The results revealed that the mean age of participants was 21 years, while the mean age of driving initiation was 14 years. Nearly half of the participants, 563 (47.4%), admitted using a mobile phone while driving, and more than a third of the participants, 420 (23.9%), admitted occasionally using a phone when driving. Furthermore, more than two-thirds of the participants, 869 (72.5%), made or received a call while driving. Regarding social media, more than a third of the participants, 447 (37.3%) admitted using WhatsApp while driving, whereas a quarter occasionally used WhatsApp. Conclusion: A remarkable majority of participants seemed to be aware of the road traffic accident (RTA) risk factors and road traffic injury (RTI) preventive measures in the questionnaire; however, they mostly chose not to follow these measures, thereby indicating an urgent need for specialized educational/behavioral interventions.

Serum Triglyceride and High Sensitive C - reactive protein Levels in Subclinical Atherosclerosis in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract: Background: The elevated level of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein and Subclinical Atherosclerosis are associated with high mortality in type 2 diabetic patients. Objective: to detect serum levels of triglyceride and high sensitive C - reactive protein in type 2 diabetic patients and their relations to subclinical atherosclerosis in these patients. Materials and Methods: We studied 50 diabetic patients (age ranged 38 - 67years) who presented with subclinical atherosclerosis. Diabetic patients were divided according to HbA1C levels to good diabetic patients and poor diabetic patients besides 25 healthy individuals as a control. High sensitive C - reactive and triglyceride were measured and duplex of extra cranial carotid arteries performed for all patients. Results: We found a significant elevation of serum TG level in diabetic groups compared to control group and higher in poor controlled diabetic group than good controlled diabetic group. Serum TG level, serum hs-CRP level and IMT was significantly higher in uncontrolled diabetics compared to controlled diabetics. A significant positive correlation between TG level and the duration of DM, systolic BP, diastolic BP, BMI, FPG, PPG and IMT. Conclusions: Triglycerides and hs-CRP have a strong association with T2DM status. Subclinical atherosclerosis is a common and frequent complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus the possible implicated risk factors.

Growth Response and Carcass Yield of Broiler Birds Fed Graded Levels of Enzyme Supplemented Yam Peel Meal

Abstract: This study was carried out to determine the extent to which enzyme supplemented yam peel meal could replace maize in a standard broiler diet, its effects on the growth performance and carcass yield of the birds. 150 broiler chicks (Abor Acre) purchased from a reputable hatchery at Ibadan were subjected to a feeding trial for 7 weeks. The chicks were randomly assigned to five dietary treatments at 30birds per treatment (T) and each treatment was replicated thrice at 10 birds per replicate.  The treatments comprised of T1 (control, 0% YPM), T2 (50% YPM without enzyme), T3 (50% YPM with enzyme), T4 (75% YPM without enzyme) and T5 (75% YPM with enzyme) involving a completely randomized design. Proximate analysis of YPM and experimental diets was done. The birds were observed and records of growth performance responses were taken. At the last week of the trial, two birds per replicate were sampled for carcass yield. Results obtained from proximate analysis showed that YPM had 3,163.33Kcal/kg metabolizable energy (ME) which is comparable to 3,342kcal/kg ME in maize making it possible for YPM to be a source of dietary energy in broiler diet. YPM also has 11.33% crude protein and 9.06% crude fibre. Growth performance indices showed that at the starter phase broiler chicks fed 50% enzyme supplemented YPM had better response than those on 50% YPM without enzyme supplementation. However, at the finisher phase, broilers on 50% YPM without enzyme supplementation performed better.  The carcass yield of broiler chickens revealed that birds fed 50% YPM without enzyme supplementation had live weight (2,033.33g) and eviscerated weight (1,590.00g) comparable (P>0.05) to those of birds on control diet (2,133.33g and 1,601.67g).  Also, birds on 50% YPM had the highest dressing percentage. At 75% YPM with or without enzyme supplementation however, performance and carcass characteristics of broilers were negatively affected due to the high fibre content of YPM. Based on the results obtained, enzyme supplemented YPM can replace 50% of maize in a standard broiler starter diet while 50% YPM without enzyme supplementation can replace maize in a standard broiler finisher diet. Feed cost/kg weight of broilers on 50% YPM without enzyme supplementation was ₦223.13 compared to ₦285.65 of birds on control diet. However, at 75% YPM with or without enzyme supplementation growth response and carcass characteristics of broilers were negatively affected due to the high fibre content of YPM. Based on the results obtained, the use of YPM to replace 50% of maize in a standard broiler diet is recommended.

Estimating the productive and economic efficiency of broiler chicken farms in Egypt: (Case study in Gharbia Governorate)

Abstract: The poultry production sector is considered one of the important sectors in the field of animal production in particular and in the field of agriculture in general, as it is one of the most important sources of animal protein production, represented by the production of meat and eggs. The value of poultry production is estimated at about 55.9 billion pounds, representing about 29.8% of the total value of animal production for the year. 2019, the research problem is the low production and economic efficiency of broiler farms. The research aims to study the possibility of achieving technical, economic and distribution efficiency for each of the sample capacities: the first capacity (3000 chicks and less), the second capacity (more than 3000 chicks - 6000), the third capacity (more than 6000 chicks), The most important results reached by the research regarding the analysis of the components of production costs per thousand chicks and regarding production per ton in broiler farms for different production capacities in the study sample in Gharbia Governorate. It became clear that the highest percentage in the cost of total production requirements was in the third (capacity), followed by the second and finally the first, the highest percentage in the total costs were in the first (capacity), followed by the second and finally the third alike. The economic evaluation of the production of a thousand chicks and with regard to the production of a ton in broiler farms for different production capacities in the study sample in Gharbia Governorate showed that the highest net return was in the third (capacity), followed by the first and finally the second, and that the highest profitability was in the third (capacity) followed by the first and finally the second, as a result The highest net return (capacity) was in the third, followed by the first and finally the second. Total production amounts to 21.2%, 13.7%, and 25% of the costs of the resources currently used.
