Assessment of Helicobacter Pylori Eradication Treatment On Platelet Count in Patients With Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura

Abstract: The impact of Helicobacter pylori eradication on the platelet count in patients with Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura is controversial. In this clinical trial, the effects of HP eradication on platelet count was assessed and analyzed. Forty Iranian patients with ITP were assessed in two groups. One group was treated with amoxicillin, clarithromycin and omeprazole. The other group received similar amounts of placebo. The platelet counts were analyzed before treatment and during the first, second and third months after treatment. The mean platelet count before treatment in the intervention and control groups were, 67.85˟103 mm3 and 69.4˟103 mm3, respectively (p=0.82). In the third month after treatment, it was 107.15˟103 mm3 in the intervention group and the 71.15˟103 mm3 in the control group (p<0.001). Repeated measures analysis confirmed the positive effect of helicobacter pylori eradication on platelet count (p=0.007). In this study, it was found that helicobacter pylori eradication in patients with immune thrombocytopenic purpura induced a dramatic increase in platelets count.

Abstract: Adolescent pregnancy can result in preterm delivery, gestational hypertension, anemia, and sexually transmitted diseases, increasing the morbidity and mortality of the mother and their offspring. We aimed to provide an overview of adolescent pregnancy during the period of 2000 to 2019. A chart review study was conducted at King Abdulaziz University Hospital, Saudi Arabia. Women with a gestational age of 24 weeks or more, with aged ≤19 years, free of chronic medical problems, and who delivered from January 2000 to December 2019 were recruited for the study. Data were collected from maternal and neonatal medical records, analyzed, and interpreted according to qualitative content analysis. A total of 5.56% of the deliveries were in adolescent mothers. Of these, 95.03% were late adolescents (16–19 years old). This study revealed that the prevalence of adolescent pregnancy in Saudi Arabia decreased over the duration of the study, with a shift toward a higher incidence of adolescent pregnancy during the late adolescent stage.

Plasma radio frequency overmatches extracorporal shock wave with local anesthetic for treatment patients with intractable plantar fasciitis

AbstractPurpose: To compare the effect of plasma radio frequency (PRF) with local anaesthesia and extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) for treatment intractable plantar fasciitis. Methods: From March 2006 to February 2010, 68 patients with hemi-intractable proximalis plantar fasciitis were received due to they received invalid inert conservative therapy. All cases received PRF with local anaesthesia or ESWT. Preoperative intention-to-treat were did, and the effect at preoperative and postoperative 12 months were estimated by VAS ankle metapodium grades (AOFAS,USA). Results: The results shown that 68 (100%) patients could receive directly EWST, 16 patients (23.5%) could receive directly the treatment of PRF with local anaesthesia, 10 (14.7%) patients could receive the treatment of PRF with local anaesthesia after invalid extracorporeal shock wave remedy. The follow-up were achieved in 46 patients. In 1 year postoperatively, VAS grade decreased to 1.9±1.2 from preoperative 5.4±1.1 in ESWT group, AOFAS ankle metapodium grade was raised to 80.7±11.2 from preoperative 50.3±13.5 in 1 year postoperatively, there was a significant differences (P<0.05). Compared with ESWT group, scores after treatment was higher in PRF with local anaesthesia group (P<0.05). Conclusions: Both PRF with local anaesthesia and ESWT can treat intractable proximalis plantar fasciitis, while the treatment of PRF with local anaesthesia is more better in curative effect.

The Role of Genetically-Modified (GM) Crops in Food Security

Abstract: The consistent increase in the global population, estimated to reach 9 billion people by 2050, poses a serious challenge for the achievement of global food security. Therefore, the need to feed an increasing world population and to respond adequately to the effects of climate change must be urgently considered. Adverse environmental conditions, such as drought, flooding, extreme heat and so on, affect crop yields more than pests and diseases. Thus, a major goal of plant scientists is to find ways to maintain high productivity under stress as well as developing crops with enhanced nutritional value. Genetically-modified (GM) crops can prove to be powerful complements to those produced by conventional methods for meeting the worldwide demand for quality foods. Genetically engineered (GE) crops that provide protection against insects and diseases, or tolerance to herbicides are important tools that complement a diversified integrated pest management (IPM) plan. The GM crops have the potential to increase agricultural productivity on existing arable land; address issues of loss related to pests, disease, and drought; increase access to food through income gains; raise nutrition levels; and promote sustainable agriculture.

Potential role of nanoparticles in Plants Protection

Abstract: Human population is exploding at an unprecedented rate from the past few decades, causing expansion of industries, shrinkage of arable land, and land urbanization. To feed billions of people, the current agricultural practices like plant breeding and IPM are not sufficient and need smart alternatives that could match our current and future food demands. It can be stated that plant protection plays an extremely important role in increasing the production of agricultural crops and in protecting them. Nanotechnology and nanoscale science afford unambiguously a great potential in innovative and improved solutions. By employing NPs we can reduce input on plant protective chemicals, minimize nutrient loss, and enhance crop yield. The technology is sufficient in alleviating problems of higher chemical input cost, poor pesticide efficiently, and pesticide contamination in land and groundwater. Nanosized materials change their physical, chemical and biological properties in comparison with bulk materials, and some of them can really help to improve and innovate some pesticides for a more efficient combat against plant diseases, weeds and various pests. To investigate nanopesticide risks, i.e. to minimize nanopesticide impacts on environment and human, cooperation among expert teams at all stages of the development and evaluation of nanopesticides (e.g. formulators, botanists, agricultural scientists and nano(eco)toxicologists) should originate and be intensified to result in the development of successful products, meeting the multiple constraints of the agrochemical sector, and this would bring an added value in relation to existing products.

Genetic Diversity and Genetic Relationships of Japonica Rice Varieties in Northeast Asia Based on SSR Markers

Abstract: Genetic diversity and the relationship among 9 Japonica rice groups consisting of 288 varieties in Northeast Asia with different geographical origins (Heilongjiang province, Jilin province and Liaoning province of China; Japan; Korea; Democratic People’s Republic of Korea; the Russian Far East district of Russian Federation) and types (landraces and improved varieties) were evaluated with 154 SSR markers. A total of 823 alleles were detected. The observed number of alleles (Na) per locus, the Nei’s gene diversity (He) and the polymorphism information content (PIC) ranged from 2 to 9, 0.061 to 0.869, and 0.060 to 0.856, with an average of 5.344, 0.624 and 0.586. RM1350, RM1369, RM257, RM336 and RM1374 are suitable for studying the difference on genetic diversity of rice cultivars in Northeast Asia. Analysis of molecular variance showed that the variation within group and among groups was about 8.40% and 91.60%. He and PIC of the 9 groups could be ranked in a descending order: Heilongjiang landraces, Jilin landraces, Japanese improved varieties, Heilongjiang improved varieties, Russian Far East district of Russian Federation improved varieties, Liaoning improved varieties, Jilin improved varieties, Korean improved varieties, Democratic People’s Republic of Korean improved varieties. The dendrogram based on UPGMA method divided these 9 groups into 3 clusters and 288 varieties into 2 clusters. Research results showed that the level of genetic diversity in Northeast Asia is low and genetic information exchange happened frequently among the 9 groups. This study may also contribute to parent selection aiming at broaden genetic base of Japonica rice germplasm in Northeast Asia.

Global Healthcare Village Based on Mobile Cloud Computing

Abstract: Cloud computing being the use of hardware and software that are delivered as a service over a network has its application in the area of health care. Due to the emergency cases reported in most of the medical centers, prompt for an efficient scheme to make health data available with less response time. To this end, we propose a mobile global healthcare village (MGHV) model that combines the components of three deployment model which include country, continent and global health cloud to help in solving the problem mentioned above. In the creation of continent model, two (2) data centers are created of which one is local and the other is global. The local replay the request of residence within the continent, whereas the global replay the requirements of others. With the methods adopted, there is an assurance of the availability of relevant medical data to patients, specialists, and emergency staffs regardless of locations and time. From our intensive experiment using the simulation approach, it was observed that, broker policy scheme with respect to optimized response time, yields a very good performance in terms of reduction in response time. Though, our results are comparable to others when there is an increase in the number of virtual machines (80-640 virtual machines). The Proportionality in increase of response time is within 9%. The results gotten from our simulation experiments shows that utilizing MGHV leads to the reduction of health care expenditures and helps in solving the problems of unqualified medical staffs faced by both developed and developing countries.

An overview on the damageability issue in the design of steel Moment Resisting Frames

Abstract:  This paper is initially associated with critical comparisons of Steel Moment Resisting Frames using European and American code methodologies, wherein capacity design philosophy is recommended for the design of steel frames and in which steel is used smartly and efficiently, thereby ensuring the assumed ductility of the system. Interested philosophical concepts have been laid down which are based on the observed issues during the design phase of moment resisting frames. After the application of capacity rules, the primary concern for most of the designers is the lateral stiffness of the frames. Therefore the vital influential parameters of these codes are the response modification factors/behaviour factors, overstrength factors and drift limitations. This research is aimed to disseminate the awareness about the discrepancy between damageability and ductility and thus to mitigate the complexities that exist as hidden inconsistencies during the design phase of MRFs. The here presented philosophical concepts and ideas could be handy and interesting for the Technicians involved in the design of Steel MRFs. Few suggested values are presented at the end of the paper in diminishing challenges while making deciding for ductility class and drift limit.
