Marek's Disease Virus: Molecular Detection From Chickens Feather In Central Ethiopia

Abstract: On the basis of an outbreak report, the current investigation was undertaken in 2019 to detect Marek's disease virus from outbreak samples using Real time PCR from four purposively selected sites (Addis Ababa, Bishoftu, Sebeta, and Ambo). A total of 200 feather samples were obtained from chickens over the whole study area. The DNA of virus was extracted from feather tissue using a Qiagen® DNeasy Mini kit. Using Real time PCR, five pooled samples (2 from Bishoftu, 2 from Addis Abeba, and 1 from Ambo) were proven to be MDV. As a result of this research, it is advised that more research be done on the isolation and molecular characterization of chicken Marek's disease virus in all part of the country.

A Comparison of Soil Microbial Diversity of Marshes Covered by Plants S. salsa and S. alternifora in Yancheng Wetland, China

Abstract: The introduction of invasive species, Spartina alternifora, in the tidal marshes of Yancheng Wetland has been viewed to be deleterious to habitat quality. Little is known, however, on the extent to which the replacement of Suaeda salsa by S. alternifora affects soil environment of impacted marshes. In this study, the soil physiochemical characteristics and microbial community of rhizosphere and the non-rhizosphere soils in adjacent Spartina and Suaeda marshes have been examined. The microbial data indicate that dynamics of microbial community were similar in both types of plants and the roots of plants were conducive to microbial community. The total number of microorganisms and microbial activity showed seasonal fluctuation, increasing from spring through summer and then declining gradually to the lowest in spring. The data provided herein also indicated that values of organic carbon, biomass carbon, size of microbial population, and activity are higher in Suaeda marsh than Spartina marsh, which to suggest that difference in vegetation cover significantly affect soil environment and microbial community. Thus, we suggest that the introduction policy of S. alternifora into this area should be reconsidered.

Human Resources Management Strategy (Pasteur specialize dental clinic)

Abstract: This paper aims at studying and investigating factors effective on determining strategic human resources management model and offering a proper model through identifying internal factors as well as environmental factors (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the fields of absorbing, training, and maintaining human resources) in Pasteur specialized dental clinic. Firstly to recognize internal and external factors, a questionnaire was designed and distributed among employees in different departments. EFE and IFE methods were applied to determine systematically the importance coefficients, organization rank and final score of internal and external factors. To determine importance coeeficients of internal and external factors in defined areas of humans resources, the linear descaling method was applied. Following determination of final score, the strategic zone was specified through SPACE method. with regard to the strategies discussed in the basic principles of human resources and commercial business, the main strategy was selected. So for the studied organization, combination strategy was determined in the area of human resources and aggressive strategy was recognized for planning and improvement of this area and the related organization growth and development with regard to the research literature. The main goal of this paper is determining human resources strategy in Pasteur specialized dental clinic. The goal was realized with regard to the executive method of this paper.

Levels of Physical Activity in Medical Students: A case study of Shariati Hospital in Isfahan

Abstract: Adequate physical activity (PA) is an important factor that strongly affects the human health and well being. It is also reported that adequate PA has important role in academic achievements and health of students. So, medical student like other peoples and students needs to be active. Despite the importance of PA in medical students still there is paucity of researches to evaluate this issue in this population. This study was carried out to determine physical activity in medical students of NIA university. Forth year medical student of NIA university in Shariati hospital were studied. Sixty nine students aged 24.1+/-1.4(M+/-SEM) enrolled and completed the Persian version of  International Physical Activity Questionnaire, Short last 7 days format .Demographic data and data about sitting periods and different level of physical activity including mild walking moderate and severe physical activity and frequency and duration of these kinds of activities were collected. Data were analyzed with SPSS using descriptive statistics. Study subjects reported severe, moderate physical activity and mild walking in 0.8+/-0.19(M+-SEM), 1.43+/-0.25 and 5.6+/-0.22 days respectively. Duration of severe, moderate physical activity, mild walking and sitting was  82.2+/-10.0, 49.3+/-8.6, 93+/-14.4 and 475.2+/-24.5 minutes in order. The results of our study show that medical student who participated in our study do not have adequate physical activity for health according to international guidelines for adequate physical activity for health purpose. It is strongly recommended to perform more research in this field and find out the ways that we can make medical students to be more active.

Abstract: Background: The rheological properties of rabbits blood fed high cholesterol diet (HCD) and HCD supplemented with high zinc (Zn) level have not been well documented. This study aimed to evaluate the rheological properties of rabbit's serum and whole blood fed on HCD and HCD supplemented with high Zn level at wide range of shear rates and for feeding period of 12 weeks. Materials and methods: Twenty four New Zealand white rabbits were divided into: control group, HCD group and HCD group supplemented with high Zn level. The HCD group was fed on normal Purina supplemented with 1.0% cholesterol plus 1.0% olive oil. The HCD + Zn group fed on NOR Purina plus 1.0% cholesterol and 1.0% olive oil supplemented with total estimate 470 ppm Zn for a period of 12 weeks. Several rheological parameters such as viscosity, shear stress and torque % at wide range of shear rates (s-1) from 225 to 1875 s-1 for rabbit blood serum and from 75 to 900 s-1for rabbit whole blood were evaluated. Results: The viscosity and shear stress of HCD rabbit's serum blood values significantly increased at all shear rate values from 225 to 1875s-1 compared with the control; while rabbits fed HCD + Zn, viscosity and shear stress values returned towards the control values at all shear rate values. The viscosity and shear stress of HCD rabbit's whole blood values significantly decreased at all shear rate values compared with the control; while rabbits fed HCD + Zn, viscosity and shear stress values returned towards the control. Conclusions: The Zn plays a major role as an endogenous protective factor against atherosclerosis, and Fe may accelerate the process of atherosclerosis Inducing anemia in HCD rabbits might delay the progression of atherosclerosis. The rheological properties changes in rabbit's serum and whole blood can be used as an important diagnostic tool during the progression of atherosclerosis. The changes in rabbit's blood serum viscosity might be attributed to changes in non-clotting proteins, glucose, nutrients, and trace elements; while the changes in rabbit's whole blood viscosity might be attributed to changes in hematocrit, hemoglobin, and erythrocytes count.

Omega-3 fatty acids composition and lipid content from liver and muscle tissues of Katsuwonus pelamis in the Chabahar Port in the south west of Iran

Abstract: In this investigation, the liver and muscle tissues of Katsuwonus pelamis from the Iranian Port of Chabahar in Mar 2013 were separately extracted for their lipid content especially omega-3 fatty acids composition using the method of Blight & Dyer. The compounds were determined by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC- MS). The components detected in the liver and muscle tissues, include saturated fatty acids Palmitic acid and Stearic acid, monounsaturated fatty acid Oleic acid, polyunsaturated fatty acids Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), two methyl esters of fatty acids including Octadecanoic acid, methyl ester and Hexadecanoic acid, methyl ester. The results showed that docosahexaenoic and eicosapentaenoic acids were the dominant Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in the species.

Morphology description of Onchidium struma (Gastropoda: Pulmonata: Systellommatophora)

Abstract:The morphology description of Onchidium struma in the paper is based on 50 specimens. The digestive system, nervous system, and reproductive system are drawed with pencil; the radula and the penia are illustrated using electron microscopy. The surface of the notum is granular and hundreds of dorsal papillae are present. Each papillae exhibit a dorsal eye. The position of the pneumostome is on the hyponotum, median, almost at a distance of 1/2 close to the anus. The thirty row of the radula was measured for the standard, radular formula varies from 62:1:62 to 110:1:110 (77 individuals), the mean numbers were 87. Rectal gland is present. There are seven ganglia in the esophageal neural ring. Onchidium struma is hermaphroditic, and its reproductive system consists of the two parts: hermaphrodite part lies in posterior third of the visceral cavity, and male part posterior to the male aperture on the right side of the buccal mass. The penis is protected by the penial sheath, with a proximal long, spiraled stalk, followed by a distal region covered with hooks externally. Hooks are conical and they measure about the length of about 80um. The flagellum of the penial gland is long and heavily coiled, measured varies about 800mm to 1200mm long.

Experimental Investigation on the Stability of Bride Girder against Tsunami Forces

Abstract: A tsunami is a natural hazard that hits many coastal areas frequently. Bridges are one of the most vulnerable parts of the tsunami disaster. During the latest few tsunami hazards, a number of bridges were affected due to lack of proper provisions of tsunami forces in the design guidelines. In this study, laboratory experiments were carried out to elucidate the damage mechanism of bridge girder by tsunami waves. Results showed that waves with larger wave height reached peak values of forces more rapidly than those of smaller wave heights. Two types of wave forms were considered, broken and unbroken. The forces were larger for broken waves than unbroken waves. It was found that maximum force of broken waves was 4.59 times as large as the hydrostatic pressure.  Moreover, the results showed that larger height bridges are more vulnerable to tsunami damages.

Different acupuncture for neurodynia and skin lesions with acute herpes zoster

Abstract: Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of different acupuncture-moxibustion therapies for neurodynia and skin lesions of acute herpes zoster. Patients and Methods: From April 2007 to October 2009, 500 patients with clinical acute herpes zoster were included in study. They were randomly divided into five groups as follow:electroacupuncture; electroacupuncture + cotton-pave moxibustion; electroacupuncture + fire acupuncture; electroacupuncture + tapping combined with cupping; control group of western medicine. Results: The time of staunch bleb, scab and scab off had no obvious statistical difference in electroacupuncture; electroacupuncture + cotton-pave moxibustion; electroacupuncture+fire acupuncture; electroacupuncture + tapping combined with cupping and control group, however, five methods could obviously reduce symptom of herpes zoster and improved general symptom.Within five days of treatment, compared to control, the other four methods could ameliorated more quickly the general symptom of herpes zoster, and electroacupuncture + fire acupuncture was superior to electroacupuncture + cotton-pave moxibustion. Acute herpes zoster is reduced during treatment, electroacupuncture + cotton-pave moxibustion, electroacupuncture + fire acupuncture and electroacupuncture + tapping could relieved neuralgia and shortened duration of pain, which was superior to control group treatment with western medicine. In addition, within first 3 days of treatment, the efficacy of treatment with electroacupuncture, electroacupuncture + fire acupuncture or electroacupuncture + tapping was superior to that of electroacupuncture + cotton-pave moxibustion, and electroacupuncture+fire acupuncture was better to electroacupuncture. After five days or end-of-treatment, the efficience of odynolysis by treatment with electroacupuncture + fire acupuncture, electroacupuncture + tapping or electroacupuncture + cotton-pave moxibustion was no more than electroacupuncture. The incidence of neurodynia was reduced after treatment with electroacupuncture + cotton-pave moxibustion, electroacupuncture + fire acupuncture or electroacupuncture + tapping at 30th, 60th and 90th day, and pain of postherpetic neuralgia was relived. Conclusion: It is a certain advantages for organism reparation, abatement of neurodynia, reduction of postherpetic neuralgia by acupuncture treatment.

Numerical study of a model of steady magnetohydrodynamics free convection

Abstract: Several engineering phenomena require the understanding of MHD flows and thermal effects related to complex flows. For instance, example is metallurgy, crystal growth and aerospace engineering problems. The present work is an effort towards numerical investigation of such flows. We examine the steady three-dimensional flow over a semi infinite permeable surface. The surface is embedded in a porous medium. The mathematical model derived from the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and Maxwell’s equation comprises of nonlinear ODEs subject to boundary conditions. The nonlinearity poses a major challenge for the solution of model. Numerical simulations are carried out for the proposed MHD flow for different values of important parameters. The study presents analysis of the quantities like velocities, temperature and stream function. Hence the flow behavior is investigated in context of hard physical conditions. Results are shown graphically to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of applied algorithm.
